Box Office Results

Resident Evil: Extinction took the number one slot this weekend taking in $24 Million dollars. If movies like this continue to do well there really is no hope for the horror genre or decent video game movies.

The rest of the top 10 goes like this:

2) Good Luck Chuck - $14,000,000
3) The Brave One - $7,425,000
4) 3:10 to Yuma - $6,350,000
5) Eastern Promises - $5,747,000
6) Sydney White - $5,323,000
7) Mr. Woodcock - $4,975,000
8) Superbad - $3,100,000 ($116,171,000 total gross on a $20 Million budget +advertising. Fantastic!)
9) The Bourne Ultimatum - $2,793,00
10) Dragon Wars - $2,513,000

Two high profile films that opened in limited theaters did quite well also. Sean Penn's Into the Wild debuted on 4 screens and took in $207,000. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford took in $144,000 on 5 screens.

Thanks to Box Office Mojo for the info.
