Most Anticipated Film of 2009

A few years ago if someone would have asked what my most anticipated movie of the year was, I'd probably rattle off some event picture or comic book sequel. In recent years that has changed.

I'm certainly still looking forward to films like that coming this year. I'm excited for Harry Potter and Transformers 2, intrigued by Terminator Salvation, and mildly curious about Watchmen. Even amongst the Wolverines, the Star Treks, or Pixar's latest offering UP there is one film that stands out. A little ray of light that I am absolutely 100% looking forward to seeing the most. The one movie that I want to see above all others. The "if you could see one movie all year what would it be" movie.

The film I'm speaking of is:

I have no real explanation as to why I want to see this film so badly. Perhaps it's the trailer (see below) with it's perfect opening lines "This is NOT a love story. This is a story about love." It could also be the fact that it stars two of my favorite actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel.

I think it's more of the fact at how original it looks. How simultaneously heartbreaking and uplifting it seems to be, a sort of magical atmosphere. In the past few years there haven't been many trailers or movies that I have been truly dying to see. I want to see a lot of things. I get excited to see a lot of things but to almost long to see a movie, to have the sustained desire or hunger to watch something is rare. It's happened 3 times in the past few years. Juno. Slumdog Millionaire. 500 Days of Summer.

The movie has premiered at Sundance to great reviews and will be hitting theaters on July 24. That's 185 Days of Waiting if my counting is correct.

Anticipation is half the fun right?

Hurry up July 24. Please....please...hurry...

again, by heart.
