Arriving on DVD today is the comedy hit Role Models starring Sean William Scott and Paul Rudd as two energy drink salesmen who are court ordered to join Sturdy Wings and mentor two kids. Hilarity ensues.

Well, maybe not hilarity.

Role Models is not without laughs. It does have a lot of funny parts to it. It's just not as funny as I had hoped it would be. The real laughs come from the kids, played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Bobb'e J. Thompson. That's not to say no one else is funny. Rudd and Scott have plenty of laughs themselves. It just seems that the kids have the most.

It does have it's heart felt moments at the end but nothing to heavy handed to detract from the fact that it is at its heart a comedy. I won't give away any of the ending except to say that it is satisfying.

While it's not as funny as I was expected, it's definitely worth a watch. When it's funny it's really funny. The cast has great chemistry and they play off each other great. Especially the mentors and mentees (is that right?) You'll be smiling for the majority of the film when you aren't laughing. Which I found myself doing most during the "Larping" scenes.

The DVD features both the R rated and Unrated versions of the film. I was watching it with someone who's seen the movie before and they kept pointing out scenes that weren't in the theatrical version and there were a few so this isn't an unrated version with 10 seconds of footage added.

The DVD also includes a lot of special features including deleted scenes and alternate takes which are pretty funny themselves. We also get bloopers and the featurettes "In Character and Off Script" which is some improve from the cast, "On The Set of Role Models," feature commentary with the director, and much more.

It all adds up to a rather robust DVD for a pretty decent film. It's certainly not the funniest movie of the year but it is an entertaining watch well worth the price of admission.

Role Models is available on DVD and BluRay today.

If the movie isn't enough play the Role Models Babe Watcher Game! You can check that out here.
