Amazon Drops Price of Roku Devices

Yesterday, Amazon.com dropped the price of it's digital video player, Roku.  The Roku is a plug-and-play device that hooks into your TV and provides streaming content for Netflix, Amazon Video On-Demand, Pandora and many other Free and Premium channels that are ever expanding. The new pricing is as follows:
  • Roku SD -      $59.99 (For all Non-HD tvs) Was $79.99
  • Roku HD -      $69.99 (Will stream up to 720P Wi-fi G) was $99.99
  • Roku HD-XR - $99.99 (Will stream up to 720P Wi-Fi N for best range) was $129.99
In addition, if you activate your Roku link with Amazon On-Demand before September 30th, you'll get a $10 viewing credit with the service. (This offer not valid on the SD Model.)

This price came two days before Apple was to hold a press conference.  Less than an hour ago Bloomberg reported that the new Apple TV will come with Netflix streaming and possibly have a cheaper $99 incarnation of it's $230 current model, but please note at this time that is only a rumor.   Stay tuned for news on that press conference tomorrow.
