In a word? No. Kelly Clarkson's new CD "My December" hit store shelves this past Tuesday. Is it worth your time and money? Absolutely.
Kelly takes the lead in writing on this album and in turn delivers a strong and emotional set of songs. Some are certainly better than others but for the most part the CD delivers.
I don't think the disc will convert any Clarkson haters, but it proves again that there is a reason she was the first American Idol. Her voice is as strong as ever and with the personal connection to the songs, it's wrought with emotion.
I'd have to give a few more listens before I can pick a clear favorite track but some of the highlights include: "One Minute", "Sober", "Be Still", "Haunted", and "Irvine"
The shocking under performance of lead single "Never Again" is curious. The second single, "Sober" doesn't seem to be faring much better, inexplicably as it is a great song. I find it incredibly hard to believe that America would turn on Kelly Clarkson after giving her multiple hit singles off her last album. It just doesn't make sense.
Could Clive Davis be turning in favors to prove he is right? Seems crazy but in today's music industry...I wouldn't be surprised.
