From the box:
The classic comedy that launched the careers of Academy Award winnder Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles celebrates its high school reunion with 10 Things I Hate About You: The 10th Anniversary Edition. This special Blu-ray release is packed with a million things you'll love, including an exclusive sneak peek at Heath Ledger's screen test. New Kid in school Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is smitten with the beautiful Bianca (Larisa Oleynick). The problem is that Bianca isn't allowed to date unless her surly older sister Kat (Stiles) does. Cameron's only hope is to enlist the help of Patrick (Ledger), the school troublemaker with a reputation as nasty as Kat's. This special edition brings back the love-struck high school classmates of '99 in spectacular High Definition along with a retro soundtrack of memorable nineties tunes. Whether you fell in love with it ten years ago or are seeing it for the first time, 10 Things I Hate About You is a comedy you can count on.
It is most definitely one of the best teen comedies of the 90's and it's now available on Blu-ray in a new 10th Anniversary edition packed with great features.
10 Things I Hate About You is certainly one of the smartest teen comedies in recent memory. It never placates its audience and really sets a bar as to how great a teen comedy can be. A bar that is unfortunately, rarely reached any more.
The films cast is absolutely perfect. From top to bottom it could not have been better cast. Serving as a career launch for it's leads Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger and exposing the masses to the immense talents of (recently robbed Golden Globe nominee) Joseph Gordon Levitt.
The set is packed with some great features listed above and of course, it looks gorgeous on the format. It was great fun revisiting this movie as I hadn't seen it in years. It really does hold up rather well mainly because of the smart writing and fantastic cast.
I wish the same could be said about it's television remake.
ABC Family's tweenie remake of the fantastic film version is not quite as successful as one might hope.
I had high hopes for it based on the great original and the success with their other show Greek, which we named one of the best shows of the decade.
Don't get me wrong, the show isn't terrible it's just not great compared to the film. It's just okay. I didn't fall in love with it like I did with Greek but i didn't hate watching it either.
I think this is a show that will get better with age and is worth giving a chance to.
The set contains the shows first 10 episodes of the show and some interesting features (bloopers, commentary Pilot episode of Make It or Break It).
Overall, 10 Things I Hate About You (the series) is a decent remake of a great film. I think given time it will find its footing and could become something special.
10 Things I Hate About You: 10th Anniversary Edition and 10 Things I Hate About You: Volume One are available now.
