From the box:

At a remote desert truck stop, the fate of the world will be decided.  Evil's armies are amassing.  armed and united by the Archangel Michael (Paul Bettany, The Da Vinci Code, Iron Man 2), a group of strangers become unwitting soldiers on the frontlines of the Apocalypse.  Their mission: protect a waitress and her sacred unborn child from the relentless, bloody siege of the demonic legion.  Also starring Dennis Quaid (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Vantage Point) and Lucas Black (Jarhead).

Now available on DVD and Blu-ray is the apocalyptic horror/thriller Legion.  God has lost faith in humanity and has sent his angels to destroy them and the baby who will, somehow, be their salvation.

The movie didn't exactly ignite the box office, pulling in about $40 million (on a $26 million production budget), and it wasn't shown much love from the critics either (19% on Rotten Tomatoes).  The question now is whether or not Legion is worth your hard earned money or more importantly, your time.

Well. simply. yeah it kinda is.  It's not anything special or brilliant., but it is a pretty fun flick.  Acting wise, its pretty standard.  Decent performances, nothing mind-blowing, but nothing terrible either.  Bettany does do a decent job as the gun wielding angel.

The effects are great.  The demonic look of the possessed citizens is pretty effective, especially when it's happening to a person you might not expect.

The story is pretty straight forward coming from a script that's not exactly anything to write home about.  Directing is pretty good, keeping the film from becoming a redundant mess.

To be honest, Legion is a fun way to spend 100 minutes.   You're likely to forget about it an hour after seeing it but it's hard not to enjoy it while you're watching.  The ending, while I won't spoil it here, is a little disappointing, but doesn't take away from the fun of the rest of the film.

It does of course leave room for a sequel, which, I don't think we'll ever see.

As for special features. we get a few behind the scenes featurettes and some trailers for other films.  Not at all anything to get excited over.

Is Legion worth your time?  Yeah, I think it is.  It's good way to spend an hour and a half with your friends before moving on to other things.  Is it worth your money?  Well, if you like fun action flicks about angels at war, then yes.  The DVD is sitting at $17.99 on amazon right now.  I would say hold off till it drops a little lower.  Same for the Blu-ray that's at $22.99.  Give it a couple weeks to go on sale and then pick it up.

Or better yet, rent it.

Legion is available on DVD and Blu-ray now.
