DVD Review: X-Men Volume 5 & Iron Man The Complete Series

It was an agonizing wait for this amazing cartoon series to hit DVD and now, the final volume is here.

The X-Men Animated Series was the pinnacle of adaptations of our favorite mutants.  No one has done these characters more justice since, be it in animation or film.

Volume Five brings the final 14 episodes of one was probably my favorite cartoon (recently usurped by Avatar: The Last Airbender).  It's bittersweet knowing the episodes are done but it's nice to have them all at my fingertips.

This last set features Captain America in one of a few episodes that don't even feature many of the main mutants. Still, the series continues and closes out nicely, albeit with loose ends.

There is so much farther to go with this series but for some reason they ended it.

The two disc set has no special features. You get the episodes and that's all.  It's unfortunate that they couldn't get some kind of supplements to support this last release. Maybe they're holding it for a complete series set in the future?

The episodes look great and still hold up. If only Marvel could get back to producing great stuff like this.

This is a definite buy!

X-Men: The Animated Series Volume 5 is available now.

Unfortunately, not so with the 1994 animated series Iron Man.  The set features the complete series and it isn't near as good as the X-Men series.  The first season is pretty hokey but season two is a drastic improvement as they began taking stores from the comics.

Still, compared to X-Men this show is a dud.  Again, this set is devoid of special features but you do get the entire run of the show, for what that's worth.

I'm not the biggest Iron Man fan, I do love the movies, so I might not be the best judge of his exploits.  Still, I did enjoy most of the second season, making it worth picking up this set.

I know there are a lot of Iron Man fans out there who have been eagerly awaiting this release.

Well, wait no longer!

Iron Man The Complete 1994 Animated Television Series is available now!
