The Beaver is a Jodie Foster directed movie about Walter Black (Mel Gibson) who is struggling with depression and finds a coping mechanism through a Beaver puppet he found in a dumpster.
It is a perfect blend of both comedy and drama. It's very dark at times, but deals with them in a lighthearted manner. Mel Gibson's acting is phenomenal and his heavy Australian accent as the Beaver is both fitting and funny. Jodie Foster, Anton Yelchin, and Jennifer Lawrence all give amazing performances, as well.
The DVD contains an audio commentary with Jodie Foster, several very good deleted scenes and a great 12 minute making of feature.
The Beaver is definitely worth a watch. I'll be excited to see what is next on Jodie Foster's directorial platter.
I give The Beaver 7 out of 10 beavers!
