Probably two of the best comedies of the eighties have just been released on blu-ray. Well, one of them is just a reissue with a new cover, but still worth mentioning.
Paramount has finally let Better Off Dead
Unfortunately, they released without a special feature to speak of, save for a trailer. The video quality isn't much to really speak of either. It's hardly better than the DVD. It seems like Paramount just tossed this out there to make a quick buck and didn't take any time to make it a worthwhile release. Still, the charm of the film, and of course John Cusack, transcends a sub par transfer and still makes Better Off Dead a good purchase, if the price is right. I wouldn't go more than $9.99 on this one.
Next up is the 25th Anniversary Edition of Ferris Bueller's Day Off
We reviewed it originally back here so why are we covering it again? Well because it's Ferris Bueller, that's why. How can we not tell you when it's rereleased (for the 100th time). I only wish that Paramount would have gone all out and given us a great 25th anniversary set to be proud of. Maybe even included the short lived show back in the 90s.
Still, it's great to go back and revisit this excellent film. More features would have been nice, but the movie alone is worth the price of admission.
