Movie Poster/Trailer: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One

Lionsgate dropped some Hunger Games goodies at comic con this year including the above poster. But, I suspect now everyone will be talking about this nifty little teaser trailer for Mockingjay Part One, which I enjoyed. It's an attention grabber without being too revealing. Really a good tease all in all.

Ok I guess you just want to see it now right?

Fine!

Movie Poster: The Grand Budapest Hotel

Fox Searchlight has kicked into high gear in marketing Wes Anderson's next film by releasing this fantastic poster. That cast is insane.

The trailer is expected on Thursday.

Movie Poster: Texas Chainsaw 3D

I have been dreading anything on this movie, fearing that it was destined for disaster.  This poster has me willing to change my tune.  Really clever, really creepy.  Maybe TC3D won't be a complete mess?  We'll see when the trailer finally drops, which will hopefully be soon!

Movie Trailer: The Cabin In The Woods

The trailer for the highly anticipated oft delayed (due to MGM financial issues) Joss Whedon/Drew Goddard project is finally here.

I for one cannot wait to see this.  We're finally getting our chance this April.

This trailer is nuts and just makes me want to see this movie even more than I already did.

Movie Poster: Stake Land

STAKE LAND
Directed by Jim Mickle
Written by Nick Damici & Jim Mickle

Starring
Nick Damici, Connor Paolo, Danielle Harris, Kelly McGillis, Sean Nelson & Michael Cerveris

Here is the official synopsis:

America is a lost nation. When an epidemic of vampirism strikes, humans find themselves on the run from vicious, feral beasts. Cities are tombs and survivors cling together in rural pockets, fearful of nightfall. When his family is slaughtered, young Martin (Gossip Girl's Connor Paolo) is taken under the wing of a grizzled, wayward hunter (In the Cut's Nick Damici) whose new prey are the undead.

Simply known as Mister, the vampire stalker takes Martin on a journey through the locked-down towns of America's heartland, searching for a better place while taking down any bloodsuckers that cross their path. Along the way they recruit fellow travellers, including a nun (Kelly McGillis) who is caught in a crisis of faith when her followers turn into ravenous beasts. This ragtag family unit cautiously moves north, avoiding major thoroughfares that have been seized by The Brethren, a fundamentalist militia headed by Jebedia Loven (Tony award-winning actor Michael Cerveris) that interprets the plague as the Lord's work.

Stake Land opens on Friday. April 22nd

Darabont Returns to TV with Zombie Series "The Walking Dead"

When an Oscar nominated director like Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, The Mist) creates a television show about zombies on AMC (The same network that produced Breaking Bad and Mad Men), people take notice.
The Walking Dead is adapted from Robert Kirkman's comics series of the same name.
This is a dream come true for zombiephiles because no matter how good a zombie movie is, there is never an ending and the viewer is always left wanting more.  With this series the audience will only have to wait a week till its next zombie fix.  Even after the series ends, the fans of the show will be able to pick up the story (If they so please) with the comics series (and it goes on a for a long time).

Movie Poster: Toy Story 3

This is a teaser poster in every sense of the word but it certainly leaves no doubt what it is actually for. I remember the days before internet movie news when I'd go into a theater and see a poster for the first time announcing a sequel I'd been hoping for. I'd always get really excited. Seeing this in a theater would have made me squeal.

It's a shame those days are pretty much over...

Anyway, if you need a Pixar fix before Toy Story 3 hits June 18, then you'll want to be sure to get Pixar's Up which arrives on DVD and Blu-ray this November!

Michael Jackson's This Is It arrives in theaters on October 28.

Movie Poster: Where The Wild Things Are

MSN has scored the first look at the new movie poster for the highly anticipated new film, Where The Wild Things Are.

It's a pretty interested poster but I think I prefer the darker original poster a bit more.

Where The Wild Things Are hits theaters on October 16.

Movie Poster: A Serious Man

First an awesome trailer. Now this equally awesome poster. I'm not the biggest Coen Brothers fan but they sure have my attention for this movie.

Here is the official synopsis:

A Serious Man” is the story of an ordinary man’s search for clarity in a universe where Jefferson Airplane is on the radio and “F-Troop” is on TV. It is 1967, and Larry Gopnik (Michael Stuhlbarg), a physics professor at a quiet Midwestern university, has just been informed by his wife Judith (Sari Lennick) that she is leaving him. She has fallen in love with one of his more pompous colleagues, Sy Ableman (Fred Melamed), who seems to her a more substantial person than the feckless Larry. Larry’s unemployable brother Arthur (Richard Kind) is sleeping on the couch, his son Danny (Aaron Wolf) is a discipline problem and a shirker at Hebrew school, and his daughter Sarah (Jessica McManus) is filching money from his wallet in order to save up for a nose job. While his wife and Sy Ableman blithely make new domestic arrangements, and his brother becomes more and more of a burden, an anonymous hostile letter-writer is trying to sabotage Larry’s chances for tenure at the university. Also, a graduate student seems to be trying to bribe him for a passing grade while at the same time threatening to sue him for defamation. Plus, the beautiful woman next door torments him by sunbathing nude. Struggling for equilibrium, Larry seeks advice from three different rabbis. Can anyone help him cope with his afflictions and become a righteous person – a mensch – a serious man?

A Serious Man opens in select theaters on October 2.
