Ah yes, the Emmy's. I certainly love to watch them. The stage is scaled back to an "in the round" style which works. Ryan seems to be doing a decent job so far. Anyway, lets see who won.
Congratulations to all the winners and nominees. I am entering these as I watch the show so you'll see some commentary as you read it and they'll be in order they were awarded.
Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy: Jeremy Piven. Not sure anyone else had a chance.
Best Supporting Actor in a Drama: Terry O'Quinn! I would have liked to have seen this go to Masi Oka or TR Knight but still cool.
Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy: Jamie Presley. Are they joking? I don't even watch The Office but can tell that Jenna Fisher certainly deserved this award.
HA Katherine Heigl just corrected the announcer. Awesome.
Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or movie: Thomas Haden Church. Didn't see any of these so...
Commercial. Is that Jason Mewes doing a voice over for a McDonald's commercial?
and we're back. I love Ellen Degeneres.
RIP Tom Snyder.
Best Supporting Actress in a Drama: Katherine Heigl. Sweeeeetttt! Love her.
By the way, why do they keep cutting to a soundless back stage looking shot??
Writing for Comedy, Music, or Variety Show: Late Night with Conan O'Brian. Could have gone to any of them really.
Commercial. How is Prison Break still on the air?
Christina is now performing with Tony Bennett. Not sure there should be half naked dancers for this performance. This is kind of...awful.
Alec!
Best Directing for Comedy, Music, or Variety Show: Bob Marshall for Tony Bennett an American Classic.
Keifer!
Best Actor in Miniseries or Movie: Robert Duvall. Broken Trail is doing pretty well tonight.
Ugh. Blogging from the Emmy's? Why do I think they hired a bunch of pretty actors to pretend to be bloggers? I'm sure they're aren't REAL bloggers who should be there.
Commercial again. Elizabeth: The Golden Age looks fantastic.
Tribute to Roots. Does Cicily Tyson age?
Best Miniseries: Broken Trail. Maybe I should have watched it.
Guest Actor and Actress in a Drama Series: Leslie Caron for Actress and I guess we have to wait for the Actor
Best Director - Drama: Alan Taylor - Sopranos. Guess they had to get something.
Still not sure who won best guest actor in a drama cuz they're on to best writing.
Best Writing - Drama: David Chase for The Sopranos. Guess they had to get something else. Doesn't sound that great to be honest.
Commercial...Who the hell won best guest actor?
Best Variety or Comedy Show: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Really think this should have gone to Real Time with Bill Maher.
Best Variety or Comedy Special: Tony Bennett: An American Classic
Marcia Cross looks amazing as usual.
Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie: Judy Davis for The Starter Wife. Does this bode well for Debra Messing?
Outstanding TV Movie: Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. Didn't see this either.
Why do we need to have a tribute to The Sopranos? With the Jersey Boys no less...This is ridiculous. I should have Tivo'd this. I'd have been able to fast forward this part. I don't get this. This is completely unnecessary.
Finally it's over and off to a commercial.
Best Actress in a Miniseries or Movie: Helen Mirren. Sorry Debra, I spoke to soon.
Lewis Black is pretty funny ranting about ads for TV shows during other shows. Perfectly true. Ok moving on Lewis...
Director for Miniseries or Movie: Philip Martin for Prime Suspect.
Writing for Miniseries: Frank Deasey for Prime Suspect. Thank you for the short speech sir.
Commercial.
Masi Oka! WTF is Tom from Myspace doing on here? oh...fox owns Myspace. I love "all the way from his office in Los Angeles" which is probably less than 10 miles from the Shrine Auditorium.
Best Performer of a Music, Comedy, Variety Show: Tony Bennett. When are the Emmys going to have a Best Host category? I think it's time.
Guest Actor/Actress in a Comedy Series: Stanley Tucci and Elaine Stritch. We still haven't found out who won guest actor in a Drama by the way. She's a funny lady.
Best Directing - Comedy: Richard Shephard for Ugly Betty.
Best Writing - Comedy: Greg Daniels for the Office. Which is about half as funny as Extras or 30 Rock.
God I hate Wayne Brady. Rainn Wilson is hilarious though. Kanye West. I wonder if he is going to get upset that he didn't win any Emmy's.
Best Reality Show: The Amazing Race. Has this won every year they've had this award?
Jon and Stephen! Together with hilarity. I can't wait to see Jon hosting the Emmy's again.
Best Actor in a Comedy: RICKY GERVAIS!!!! Holy god that is so awesome! Best pick ever!!! Aw and he isn't there. I'm guessing he didn't think he had a chance.
Best Actress in a Drama: Sally Field! Rad! God I'd love to write for that show. Sally looks amazing. She forgot her speech and they went to that goddamn dead shot again! What IS THAT??
Time for the memoriam. Mr. Wizard sheesh I watched him as a kid.
Commercial.
Back with William Shatner and Debra Messing.
Best Actress - Comedy: America Ferrera. Crazy. Did the announcer say Herrera? She gave a nice speech. Still should gone to Tina Fey though.
Best Actor - Drama: James Spader. Nice. 24 sucked last season. Keifer will be back to win next year. Spader rules though.
Commercial again. No wonder these things last all night.
Last two awards of the night and we still don't know who the guest actor drama winner was.
Best Comedy: 30 Rock. Nice choice academy! Recognize the funniest show on TV for a change. Love this show. Love Tina Fey. "Dozens and dozens of viewers" Awesome.
ANOTHER Commercial? What the hell.
Best Drama: Of course its The Sopranos. Way to be safe Emmy's.
That's it for the Emmy's this year. I'm wondering if this will make any sense to any one reading it.
By the way...the winner of the Best Guest Actor on a Drama was John Goodman for Studio 60. Eh...I almost wish I didn't know.
Also, South Park won for best animated show.
And that dead shot I kept complaining about was fox's version of the Mute Button. Idiots. They bleeped Sally Field when she said "If Mother's ruled the world there would be no goddamn wars." Also I noticed that Katherine Heigl dropped the Shit bomb when she won.
That's all folks!
Congrats to all the winners again.
