Tyler Perry's latest magnum dopus "Why Did I Get Married?" began its shock and awe campaign by blasting into the #1 spot over the weekend taking in a shocking $21.5 million. I can't even think of anything smarmy to say about this. It's just...disappointing.
In other box office news, "The Game Plan" continues to do quite well sticking in at #2 with just over $11.5 million.
The new, and critically praised, "Michael Clayton" starring George Clooney came in at #3 with with just over $11 million, edging out the Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg starer "We Own The Night" by only $10,000. That film took in $11 Million for a #4 spot.
Ben Stiller's R-Rated Farrely Bros. comedy remake "The Heartbreak Kid" took the #5 spot with $7.4 million.
The other newcomer this week was "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" (review later today) which was not taken to very well by critics. It opened in the #6 spot with just over $6 million.
The top ten is rounded out with "The Kingdom" ($4.5 million), "Across The Universe" ($4 million), "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" ($2.6 million), and "The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising" ($2.1 million).
