The most recent installment to The Punisher franchise finally delivers what fans of the comic are looking for; gritty, grim action thats true to the comic. The film is finally set in The Punisher's stomping ground of New York, and Ray Stevenson gives the fans the dour-faced force of nature they've followed for years. The dialogue, or in some cases the lack of dialogue, is more in keeping with the series. The film stays away from being overly emotional, and though several reviews have expressed concerns over the amount of violence in the film, fans will recognize it for typical Punisher fare; everything happens at a frenetic pace, and the bad guys get no quarter. Longtime fans will also be happy to note the appearance of series characters like Soap and Micro, and although some minor plot points may prove disappointing, overall this film gives hope for the franchise.
Keep it up, Marvel!
