Maggiano's Little Italy
The atmosphere at Maggiano's Little Italy reminds me of the scene in "Lady in the Tramp" Only with less alleyway and rats. Candlelit and charming, a perfect place to take someone out on a date or just to hang out with friends. The floors are hardwood and the tables are each covered with a neat white table cloth.
When receiving the menu, the wait-staff gives ample time to look over the menu, and answers any questions asked. We were well warned about the portions being quite large, and being enough for 2 people to share with a little to take home, this was no exaggeration. When drinks were ordered, the bar staff was quick and friendly about delivering the drink order.
The homemade bread and olive oil was a fantastic pairing; dry fresh bread+warm olive oil= delicious!
The pasta here is precooked, and as a result if you have a special order (Al dente) the kitchen will try their best to fit even the most picky pallet.
When dinner arrived the presentation was fantastic. Simply a huge bowl of pasta and plates for all. We had the Linguine with white clam sauce, which was flavorful with lots of garlic, (yum) clams are not my favorite, but they were decent.
Dessert at Maggiano's is proportionate to the meal, if you order one full order of pasta, it'll feed several people, if you order one full dessert, it'll feed at least 2. We had the Tiramisu, which was heavenly.
Maggiano's is a good place to start an evening with friends, or end a busy day of shopping. It located in Chicago close to the Grand Red Line station.
