Cameron's "Avatar" Returns to Theaters in 3D on Friday

Well if you couldn't wait till "Smurfs" to hit the theaters, then you're in luck. James Cameron has the next best thing to tide you over till next August.

James Cameron is re-releasing "Avatar" in 3D on Friday. Grossing over $2.7 billion worldwide, Cameron's film started the revival movie crazy that is 3D. Cameron claims 'hundreds of thousands, if not millions' didn't get a chance to see the movie in 3D the first time around and that this re-release will give them that chance.

Cameron's re-release will have an additional 9 minutes of footage. The new footage will be peppered throughout the movie, but two new scenes will make up the biggest parts. The new scenes are footage that have never been seen before and will be released on an extended version DVD/Blu-Ray in November.
