I've heard great things about this and am glad to help support the project by spreading the word.
Feel free to do the same.

Sin City makes its eagerly awaited debut on blu-ray today and it was well worth the wait. I'm not going to make this a long drawn out review. Most of you out there know what Sin City is. If not, then click this link and buy it immediately. It's second only to The Dark Knight as far as comic book movies go and as far as movies go? It's a work of art. Hyper violent, hyper stylized, beautifully shot, written, edited, and an absolute vision to behold on blu-ray.

You can probably tell I am a fan of this movie. That's true. When I first saw it my mind was blown. This is what movies are all about. Excitement, explosions, ninja like hookers! It was an amazing film to watch on the big screen.
Here we are now a few years later and Sin City is now out on blu-ray. If any film was made for the format it's this one. It looks glorious and explodes of the screen. It's like seeing it for the first time. The picture is crystal clear and the colors, when they are featured, are gorgeous.
The film is essentially the extended edition set they put out a while back with a couple blu-ray extras like Cine-explore, which plays commentary from Rodriguez and Miller as well as panels showing green screen footage and shots from the graphic novels.
The other blu-ray exclusive feature is the interactive comic/game Kill 'Em Good which allows you to play as Marv and kill a bunch of people, drive a stolen police car, and watch Nancy dance.
The rest of the extras have been included in previous releases of the film but are no less necessary here. Great commentary and featurettes take you even deeper into the film.
The biggest feature of all is the recut and extended edition of the film. Each chapter is extended and separated into four short films with extra footage. I won't go into details about what you'll see, but fans of the film are sure to be pleased.
There isn't much else to say. Sin City is a brilliant film and an extraordinary achievement in its own right. To pull out the old classic line: You haven't seen Sin City until you've seen it on blu-ray.
Sin City is available on blu-ray today.

Lots of big names attached to this movie so I'm not sure why it is taking so long to be released.
Hopefully, we'll see it soon!

$11,591,000. The box office take for "Grindhouse" over opening weekend. It opened in 4th place. What is the explanatin for this? The projected gross for GH was 20 - 25 million yet it only brought in just about half that amount. When I heard this yesterday my jaw droped. "But its Quentin...and Robert...and it's so fucking good..." What the hell happened?
My best guess? Easter Weekend. Not exactly the best time to release a movie celebrating exploitation and violence. It seems Easter weekend is a more family oriented time for films. That can be the only explanation for "Are We Done Yet" making more money than "Grindhouse". Where were all the fans of these directors? I saw it at 12:20 in the morning and the theatre was packed. My only guess is that families overran the theatres this weekend. That and the running time. Longer movie = Less showings.
Let's see how "Grindhouse"fares over the next weeks. My prediction is steady income from word of mouth.
At any rate it will be huge on DVD.

Yes readers, it is true.
I have seen Grindhouse and it is just as good as you want it to be. Better in fact. It is a balls to the wall action packed gore filled thrill ride. A true homage to the grindhouse cinema of the 60s - 70s. Fans of both Rodriguez and Tarintino will not be disappointed as both delivered great flicks here.
I sat in the lobby of the theatre for about 5 hours only to be among the only 25 or so regular folk let into the press screening. Unfortunately, we were made to sit in the front row which was infuriating considering I was in line for so long. But besides that minor inconvenience, it was a great time. Patton Oswald was a couple rows behind me. Any other "special guests" went unseen. I was told that most of the cast were there the night before as well as Quentin and Robert and that they might be there at the screening I attended. If they were, I didn't see them. Although, I do think I heard Quentin shout "I knew it!" during one of the soon to be infamous Missing Reel scenes.
The first flick up was Planet Terror directed by Robert Rodriguez and staring Freddie Rodriguez, Rose McGowan, and Bruce Willis. The movie is about a toxic gas released into a Texas military base that turns everyone into, for lack of a better description, bubbling zombies. This flick was killer from beginning to end. Great fun tons of grindhouse gore and pretty funny to boot. Who would have thought Freddie Rodriguez would pull off such a great action role. I hope he does more of this in the future. Mayhaps an El Wray prequel?
Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof is next. Of course you know there is a short intermission between the films featuring some fake trailers directed by the likes of Rob Zombie and Eli Roth. I won't go into details on these as they should be a surprise for everyone. Plus if you're at all interested in the movie you probably already know all about them. Anyhoo, on to Death Proof.
Kurt Russel, Rosario Dawson, Sydney Portier, and Rose McGowan star in this road rage extraveganza. Kurt Russel was great in this and after seeign this is shocking that they want to remake Escape From New York with anyone else.
This is an interesting flick. Going in I was expecting more of a horror flick. What I got was unexpected. Granted there are horror elements and gore but the flick itself was more than that. It is a bit hard to explain without giving away details that I don't want to spoil. Needlessly to say, I loved it as much as Planet Terror. If I had to choose a favorite, well, I don't think I could.
This movie definitely has a specific audience in mind and it will be interesting to see how it does in box office receipts. I am sure it will be a huge hit but demographically is where the interesting bits come in. I'll keep an eye on that.
Bottom line, this movie comes out April 6 and it would behoove you to make sure you get your own Grindhouse fix. You won't be disappointed. It's tons of fun. I'll be there again opening night to get the full view from the back of the theatre. Not to mention that the trailer for Rob Zombie's Halloween remake/prequel thing is supposedly going to screen with the flick.
See ya at the Grindhouse!
