DVD Review: United States of Tara Season One

United States of Tara: The First SeasonStarring: Toni Collette, John Corbett, Rosemarie DeWitt, Keir Gilchrist and Brie Larson

From the box:

The newest Showtime smash hit United States of Tara comes to DVD for the first time! When loving wife and mother Tara goesoff her identity disorder pills, a cast of internal characters are unleashed on the Gregson family - for good and bad. Emmy award winner Toni Collette expertly plays all of Tara's "alters" -including Buck, a beer-and gun-loving truck driver; T, a foul-mouthed teenager; and Alice, a perfect 5-s housewife -all intertwined with Tara herself, who's desperately trying to hold her family together. It's all hysterically funny, dramatic, and sweet - would you expect anything less from Academy Award winning writer Diablo Cody and Steven Spielberg?

I'll keep this sort and sweet since I've raved about this show since it first aired. I'm sure you all know my feelings in it.

Right now, United States of Tara is the best show on TV. It's brilliantly written, flawlessly acted, and an overall joy to watch.

The cast is wonderful. Each of them fully embodying these multi-layered characters who quirks and flaws make them feel alive in ways that aren't often seen on television today.

Steven Spielberg and Diablo Cody have delivered an amazing piece of television here. United States of Tara is funny, emotional, smart, touching...I could list a thousand adjectives to be honest here.  I'm totally in love with this show.

The special features include a sit down with Diablo Cody, Audio Commentary, Tara's Alters and the first episode of The Tudors Season 3.

There are also numerous features unlockable when you watching via your computer.

Showtime really has some brilliant brilliant shows going right now with Californication, Dexter, and now United States of Tara. They're definitely a force to watch out for.

Season Two of Tara starts tonight (3/22) and I've seen the first three (out of the six I've been sent) and believe me season two is shaping up to be even better than season one.

Do yourself a favor and catch up on United States of Tara.

United States of Tara: The First Season is available on DVD now.
