Turn the page, wash your hands, Rocko’s Modern Life is finally on DVD! I remember loving this show as a kid and loving it even more as an adult because of innuendos and social commentary that I now actually get. All thirteen episodes are on 2 discs and chock full of hilarity.
A lot of the classic episodes are on this season such as: “A Sucker for the Suck-O-Matic” where Rocko buys a vacuum cleaner, “To Heck and Back” where Heffer has a near-death experience, and “Dirty Dog” which marks the first appearance of Bloaty and Squirmy. This set also includes the once banned “Leap Frogs” where Mrs. Bighead attempts to seduce Rocko.
One thing I really like about this DVD is that from the main menu you can choose either 11 minute episode from the full episode itself. This is a really helpful feature for navigating the episodes.
I was a little disappointed that there were no special features on this DVD at all. I would hope that in the coming seasons, there would be some commentary from creator Joe Murray and maybe some interviews with the original voice actors.
Overall, this set is great for nostalgia and a must have for anyone who grew up on 90s Nicktoons! Hopefully the coming seasons will contain several Special Features.
I give Rocko’s Modern Life Season One an 8 out of 10 Suck-O-Matics!
