Blu-Ray Review - "Downton Abbey" Season 4

"Downton Abbey" returns to the home video market with Season 4.  The best thing about this release is now you don't have to wait to watch Season 4 as it is currently running every week on PBS instead buy the Blu-Ray discs and watch them right now!

Season 4 starts 6 months after Matthew's death as Lady Mary must figure out how to grieve while at the same time giving motherly affection to baby George.  She eventually comes around and multiple suitors prominently enter the picture.  Tom also struggles with how he fits in to the Grantham Family hierarchy.

This season as always is filled with high drama and finds many of the main characters dealing with traumatic events that could and will change the course of their lives forever.

By episode 9: "The London Season" writer Julian Fellowes pulls out all the stops and creates a b-story line that feels like a good old-fashioned caper which I affectionately refer to as "Grantham's 11" add to that guest starring roles by the returning Shirley MacLaine and Paul Giamatti as her playboy son and Season 4 definitely ends on high note.

As with past seasons, kudos as always go to Dame Maggie Smith.  Smith's portrayal of Violet Crawley the Dowager Countess of Grantham makes me smile every time she opens her mouth because every line of dialogue is delivered with such a comedic judgmental devilishness!

Drumroll please...  10 out of 10 drumsticks!!!
