Blu-Ray Review - "The WHO Sensation: The Story Of Tommy"

There are countless documentaries about the legendary rock band The Who such as "The Kids Are Alright," "Amazing Journey: The Story Of The Who," "The Who: 30 Years Of Maximum R&B" and now, thankfully, we can add "The Who Sensation The Story Of Tommy" to that list.

"The Who Sensation The Story Of Tommy" is the first documentary to focus entirely on the creation of the band's masterwork "Tommy."  The film contains brand new interviews with surviving members Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey along with archival interviews from bassist John Entwistle, sound engineer Bob Pridden and the man who created the iconic album artwork Mike McInnerney.

Director Martin R. Smith has done an amazing job by answering virtually any question fans might have about the writing and recording of the "Tommy" album.  Townshend and Daltrey still have high regard for the ground breaking rock opera and some of the archival footage included is among the best I have ever seen.

Bonus features on the Blu-Ray edition include an extended version of the film along with the previously unreleased Beat Club footage from 1969.

If you're a fan of The WHO or of classic rock albums in general then "The Who Sensation The Story Of Tommy" is the perfect documentary for you.  Pull out your earplugs, take off your eyeshades and enjoy!

Drumroll please... 9 out of 10 drumsticks!!!
