Blu-Ray Review - "Winter's Tale"

Academy Award winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman made his theatrical directing debut this past year with "Winter's Tale."  When the film hit theaters in February it was met with a critical drubbing which in retrospect feels a little harsh because "Winter's Tale" is a fun movie.

Colin Farrell (Saving Mr. Banks, In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths,  and Jessica Brown Findley (Downton Abbey) have amazing on screen romantic chemistry that, for me, is worth the price of admission already.

Add in Russell Crowe as the villain, William Hurt as a concerned father and a surprise appearance by an earring-wearing Will Smith (Ali, I Am Legend, Men In Black) as the devil and it's time to grab your popcorn and settle in for a fun evening of at home entertainment.

This time jumping story of love found and lost is not perfect, but the actors fully commit to the parts they are inhabiting, the film looks beautiful and it does take chances that other films are afraid to.

If you're looking for a little fantasy with your romance then I think you might find exactly what you're looking for in "Winter's Tale."

Drumroll please...  6 out of 10 drumsticks!!!
