Music Review: Rod Stewart - "The Rod Stewart Album" Deluxe Vinyl Replica CD

Rod Stewart's debut solo album gets the remastered upgrade it deserves courtesy of Culture Factory USA.

Originally released in 1969, "The Rod Stewart Album" gave listeners only a hint of what was to come.  At the time of issue the album entered the US Billboard 200 charts at #139.  Not a rousing chart topper like his subsequent releases but for an unknown singer it wasn't too shabby either.

Boasting only 8 tracks and with a running time of just over 30 minutes "The Rod Stewart Album" contains many gems including "Handbags and Gladrags," "An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down" (which served as the title of this album when released in the UK) and it's sole single release a cover of  The Rolling Stones "Street Fighting Man."

The album was definitely an under achiever and only reached minor chart success in Australia reaching #31 on their album charts.  Still, Rod Stewart's first release is definitely worth a listen if for nothing more than to hear a future legend getting his start.

The brand new reissue via Culture Factory USA is by far the best version of this album on the market today.  The CD comes in a gatefold replica of the original vinyl LP and has been meticulously remastered.

If you already own this album on compact disc then I highly recommend the upgrade to this version.  While your at it you should also check out their release of Rod's "Gasoline Alley" as well.

Drumroll please...
