Movie Trailer: TUSK #WalrusYes

Kevin Smith returns to horror with his insane looking Tusk.

The official synopsis reads: From the singular mind of writer/director and podcaster Kevin Smith, and conceived from one of Smith’s own Smodcast’s, TUSK is a story unlike anything that has ever been committed to screen before. A tale that is equal parts hilarious and horrifying, TUSK will stay with you long after the credits roll.

Word is this is part of a Canada set trilogy which is pretty intriguing. I don't know about you but I am definitely interested in this one.

Check out the trailer below.

Zack and Miri Make A Porno Red Band Trailer!

Make no mistake this will probably be the funniest movie of the year. Sorry Tropic Thunder. Kevin Smith looks to have gold with this flick.

Also, for some reason the guy who made this you tube video tacked a Soldier Boy ad on the end. Don't let that lack of talent effect your enjoyment of the trailer.

Kevin Smith on BATMAN!!!

Kevin Smith made an appearance at the DC Nation panel to announce his 3 issue miniseries Batman: Cacophony. The series starts in November and will feature a villain from Smith's time on Green Arrow, Onomatopoeia, and famous Batman villains including the Joker.

Kevin joked the series will start in five years and finish six years after that.

Awesome news.

The MPAA Strikes Again

Kevin Smith has been forced to take down his Internet only teaser for his upcoming comedy Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

The teaser, which features no footage from the film, was not rated by the MPAA.

Kevin Smith says, "The MPAA called and said we had to take it down. Weinstein Co., like most studios, is a signatory of the MPAA," explains Smith. "As such, there are protocols involving trailers that we failed to follow. As with features, all trailers get rated get rated by the MPAA. The majority of them are for general audiences (Green Band trailers), but trailers packed with adult content (like our teaser) earns you what's called a Red Band trailer.

Well, we didn't go through this process - simply because, we felt, that since the teaser didn't contain any footage from the actual flick, it wasn't technically a trailer. Boy, was I wrong. Turns out all promotional material for any film financed/distributed by a signatory of the MPAA has to be signed-off on by the MPAA - including internet-only materials. I never realized this, as it'd never been a problem in the past... nobody ever raised a red flag before (not even on the last flick, for which we also put up two 'net-only teasers in advance of the rated trailer). But I guess since the teaser was so, shall we say, racy... a rating was in order."

The teaser has since been submitted to the MPAA for review so it should be back online soon.

The MPAA is an archaic organization that really needs to be shut down. They're useless proponents of censorship staffed by unqualified housewives who I believe are a major reason why the film industry is spiraling into oblivion. So many people are concerned with ratings that they are restricting the voices of filmmakers. It's sad.

Get rid of em. That's my stand. Or at least hope that some studios grow some balls and stand up to them for a change.

Zack and Miri Teaser TONIGHT!

Kevin Smith announced today via his Myspace blog that he will be premiering an exclusive internet teaser for his upcoming Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

He says "Don't call it a trailer, 'cause it's not a trailer; it's a teaser. There ain't a frame of footage in this puppy that's in the actual flick, so feel free to watch it without fear of "spoilers". This is just a little something to give you a bit of a feel for the flick."

Watch it tonight at midnight here.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno has its Zack and Miri!

Kevin Smith has found his leads for his eighth film, "Zack and Miri Make a Porno"

Elizabeth Banks

and Seth Rogen.
My excitement for this movie just quadrupled.

Additionally, read the story of Seth's casting directly from Kevin's fingertips. It's a great read.

Rosario Dawson's Eagle Eye

MTV recently spoke with Rosario Dawson about her new project Eagle Eye, starring Shia Lebouf and directed by Disturbia's D. J. Caruso.

More interesting though is what she said about Kevin Smith's new movie Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

"It's going to be a really interesting film. I don't think I'm going to be a part of it. He wrote it for me, but I'm just signing on to do ["Eagle Eye"] and that's going to be shooting from November to March..."

Let's hope Rosario Dawson changes her mind, if he wrote that with her in mind, it is going to be tough filling her shoes.

Eagle Eye's target release date is October 10, 2008.
