#COMMUNITY returns to Yahoo! Screen @CommunityTV

NOTE: This is NOT an official press release photo.  It's just THAT good.
Everybody has been wondering, and now you know.  Community, that show on NBC that everyone talks about watching but never really does, has gone from cancellation to...not Hulu...not Netflix...not Crackle...BUT YAHOO SCREEN!

According to Yahoo! Celebrity:
Studio Sony Pictures Television has revived Dan Harmon's cult comedy series for 13 new episodes to launch in the fall on Yahoo Screen, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. [Source]
Even Dan Harmon had some kind words to say:
“I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its pre-destined sixth season on Yahoo.  I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!” [Source]
To be honest, I didn't even know there was such a thing as Yahoo! Screen.  To be even more honest, I highly doubted the fact that Yahoo! was still online!  Egg on my face!!  So if you're a fan of Community, congratulations!  If you're not a fan of Community, don't worry, you can meet your brethren in the Yahoo! message boards.

Sound off your thoughts in the comments section below, and safe travels!

#TMNT News for June 2014

This week is pretty big for the Ninja Turtles, or as the 21st century is calling them for some reason, the TMNT.  Michael Bay, surfing off the hot praise of his new Trans4ormers movie, is reintroducing my beloved heroes in a half shell as kinda weird-looking monsters in his produced incarnation out this August.  And we have a trailer!  And more exciting news below the jump!!

Did Bryan Singer Just Drop An Apocalypse On Us?

What could this tweet mean?  Apocalypse as the villain in the next X-Men film?  An Age of Apocalypse movie??  Maybe he's just having some holiday fun and screwing with us?

An Age of Apocalypse movie would be amazing and the idea of just having Apocalypse in a film has so many exciting possibilities, not the least of which is an appearance of Archangel!

I guess we'll need to wait to find out more info. 2016 is so far...

Until then, gaze upon the glory that is Apocalypse!

Glee Is Ending

Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Glee will end after its upcoming sixth season.  He also knows how it will end despite having to alter his original plans after the untimely death of Cory Monteith.

Murphy said that the last season was going to be a Rachel/Finn storyline and that, "I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was -- he was in it. I knew what the last line was; she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do."

He also says the final episode will "honor" Cory Monteith.

What do you guys think?  Is it time for Glee to sing its way off into that great night?

ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW (@EscapeTomorrow) Comes Out Oct. 11th

As Reported by Alan Trehern

Since it's October, and PCB is hockey-mask deep in Scream-O-Ween, I figured I'd try to spook you guys with a trailer for a horror-suspense thriller filmed illegally at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.  Weird right?  Coming off it's critically-acclaimed Sundance run, there seems to be a release date of October 11.  The trailer for Escape from Tomorrow is after the jump...

News: GTA 5 Makes All The Money Ever

Grand Theft Auto 5 has earned over $800 Million Dollars on its first day of release.

That is twice as much as Modern Warfare 3 earned on its first day and nearly double (or more) the domestic grosses of Star Wars Episodes One, Two, and Three individually.

Eight. Hundred. Million. Dollars.

News: No Pixar In 2014?!

Pixar fans will have quite the wait ahead of them for the next film to hit theaters.

Next year's The Good Dinosaur has been bumped back to November 2015 and Finding Nemo sequel Finding Dora is moving to Summer 2016.

The Dinosaur delay is likely due to the director being yanked off the film and replaced.

The good news though is that 2015 will bring two Pixar films (at least at this point) with The Good Dinosaur joining Pete Doctor's Inside Out which arrives June 19, 2015.

Good and bad news I guess but at least you'l have the upcoming Monsters University blu-ray to hold you over when it comes out on October 29.

News: JK Rowling and WB Teaming For More Harry Potter! Sort of.

J.K. Rowling is headed back to the world of Harry Potter.  This time as the screenwriter for a film not featuring Harry but Newt Scamander, the author of Hogwarts textbook"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

She says:  “It all started when Warner Bros. came to me with the suggestion of turning 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' into a film. I thought it was a fun idea, but the idea of seeing Newt Scamander, the supposed author of 'Fantastic Beasts', realized by another writer was difficult. Having lived for so long in my fictional universe, I feel very protective of it and I already knew a lot about Newt. As hard-core Harry Potter fans will know, I liked him so much that I even married his grandson, Rolf, to one of my favourite characters from the Harry Potter series, Luna Lovegood.

As I considered Warners’ proposal, an idea took shape that I couldn’t dislodge. That is how I ended up pitching my own idea for a film to Warner Bros.

Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.

I particularly want to thank Kevin Tsujihara of Warner Bros. for his support in this project, which would not have happened without him. I always said that I would only revisit the wizarding world if I had an idea that I was really excited about and this is it.”

What do you think?  Do you want more of the magical Harry Potter universe even if those beloved characters aren't a part of it?

News: Jurassic Park IV Coming in 2015 and Now Called WHAT?!

It's official.  Jurassic Park IV is coming in 2015 only it isn't called Jurassic Park IV anymore.  It's now called JURASSIC WORLD, which if you ask me, is a terrible title.

Also terrible?  It's gonna be in 3D.  Yes, shot in 3D, but still 3D none the less.

Still another Jurassic Park movie is pretty awesome, even if it is called Jurassic World.

The film will be directed by Colon Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) based on a script he co-wrote with Derek Connolly (also co-wrote Safety Not Guaranteed).  Steven Spielberg will return in a producing capacity.

Jurassic World finally hits theaters on Friday, June 12, 2015.

#Kickstart Alert: "Grave Soldiers" the Comic Book

I write and draw my own comics, I'm not ashamed to say it.  Sometimes you get ideas in your head that HAVE to get on paper somehow.  But in a world where corporations set a certain standard, some ideas are hard to define and may not fit into a certain company's publication goals.  That's why self-publication is so great!  And since PCB loves to promote the self-published, we have a Kickstarter that would help some young authors and artists get their comic book ideas into YOUR hands!  Click the RAWR for more info on GRAVE SOLDIERS!!!!  Oooh wah ah ah ah!!

Archaia and @Alyssa_Milano Behind #HACKTIVIST

Photo from Archaia.com

We live in a world where technology is around every corner.  Many of us embrace it, some question it, but none of us know its full potential.  Will we use it for the betterment of all mankind (United Federation of Planets) or see us meet our new worst enemy (Skynet)!?

Enter Archaia Entertainment and Alyssa Milano (Who's the Boss, Charmed, Commando...also, Double Dragon.  She was really hot in that!)  who are working on a new graphic novel that focuses in on the lives of hackers and their love-hate relationship with the world, and the US government.  In our current state of Wikileaks and NSA whistle-blowers, I think this is quite an interesting topic.  Are whistle-blowers a positive aspect of governance?  Or does the danger of leaks and cyber-crime pose too much of a threat?  What is free speech and what is national security?  The lines are so blurred, dammit!!
“I’m very involved with in global activism and philanthropy. I like the idea of everyday people doing good,” explained Milano. “My inspiration for Hacktivist is actually Jack Dorsey, the creator of Twitter and Square. I picture him leaving the office at night and going home, where he locks himself in his room and starts hacking to change the world.
“I felt Hacktivist was a strong story that I really wanted to tell visually,” Milano expressed. “Doing a graphic novel allowed me to dream big and it gave me the freedom to create without boundaries.” - ComicBook Resources
So look for this as a digital comic in Fall 2013, "followed by the hardcover print release in Summer 2014."  Here at PCB, though, we'll continue to ask the big questions like "How much power is too much power, Mr. President?" and "How long should I put this burrito in for?"  Stay tuned for the answers!

Lightning Returns...With a Chance of Cloud?

SquareEnix, the makers of the Final Fantasy series, has released a new promotional video for the upcoming release of LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII...cause all caps, y'know?  The vid features the main character of FF13 (Claire Farron/Lightning) wearing the famous gear of Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII.  People go ape-sh*t over FF7, but we'll have to see if his alternate universe garb (?) will get gamers pumped about this third story arc in the FF13 series of games.  That's right, a series within a series.  Confused?  Get in line...

I have a love/hate relationship with Final Fantasy.  The ninth game is the best ever, but I hate when my character gets stuck in the game's story.  Oh no, you're not leveled up enough to fight this mega-boss, but there's no opportunity to go back and level up.  So you're stuck in game limbo.  It's probably my fault for not saving correctly in certain points, but you know what, screw that!  You shouldn't make a game with this kind of snag, Final Fantasy 8!! Grrr...

Anyway, check out the video and SquareEnix's YouTube page for more game footage.  Let us know what you think of the promo, and the series, in the comments section.  And expect a full-review of this game in 10 years when I figure out how to level up properly.  - AT

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
Platforms: XBOX 360 and PS3
Release Date: February 2014 (NA)

SWTOR logins declining

Star Wars The Old Republic Operative

PC Gamer recently interviewed Daniel Erickson of Bioware about Star Wars: The Old Republic's current status and its future. Players have been noticing reduced population on servers, but Erickson says that the subscription rates remain steady. He does admit, however, that fewer players are logging in during peak times.

Bioware's plans to keep subscribers and to entice players to log back in include having more events like the Rakhoul Plague and to implement a group finding tool. Erickson says that more interesting replayable content was on the way as well.

My biggest concern as an avid player is the endgame. While I enjoy the various storylines and PVP, I've also taken up operations (or raiding in WoW parlance). The problem is that hardcore players get bored easily and clamor for new ops. When they feel like they've exhausted the current endgame content, they stop logging in until the next content patch -- or cancel their subscriptions entirely. Though I don't think developers should only cater to the "it's all about the endgame" types, I do think there needs to be more content at max level.

I am enjoying the game, but miss many of my fellow players -- including The Spousal Unit who just canceled his subscription. While I am currently content with exploring the many storylines I haven't seen yet, I am anxious to continue my operative's story. But I know that will probably be in a content patch or expansion far, far away.
