Morgan Spurlock's brilliant Comic-Con documentary, Comic-Con IV: A Fan's Hope, recently became available on Hulu for free!

The documentary is really fun and captures the essence of Comic-Con. Check it out at the link below:

In addition, the folks at NECA/Wizkids have been gracious to let us give away a copy of Comic-Con IV: A Fan's Hope... but wait there's more!

This is an exclusive edition of the DVD that comes with 2 mini-figures, Stan Lee and Harry Knowles!

How do you enter this contest? It's easy! Go to the Hulu link above and watch the documentary. Then post a comment on both this site AND Hulu about your favorite scene in the film and tell me about your Geekiest moments (whether at Comic-Con, another convention, or just in general)!

I'll pick the winner next week! Good luck everyone!

Possible Comic-Con Panels?

IESB.net has some scoopage relating to this years San Diego Comic-Con. This info is not 100% confirmed and may certainly change. Here is a breakdown so far by studio:

20th Century Fox will be showing off City of Ember, Mirrors, and The Day the Earth Stood Still. You can probably expect to see Amy Smart, Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Alexandre Aja and Kiefer Sutherland.

Lionsgate will feature Frank Miller's upcoming film The Spirit. I would expect most of the cast to attend. They'll also feature Punisher: War Zone.

Paramount Pictures
will undoubtedly show some GI Joe footage and maybe some Star Trek. Expect a full screening of Tropic Thunder.

Sony Pictures
will feature Quarantine and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. Expect cast members from those films. Also rumor has it something involving Quantum of Solace. If I had to guess I'd say a trailer with a possible appearance by Mr. Bond himself, Daniel Craig.

Summit Entertainment
will have a large presentation from the teen vampire love story, Twilight, which if I am watching the trailer correctly, features vampires romping around in the daylight. Cast members and the author of the Twilight series Stephenie Meyer will attend.

Universal Pictures will feature Death Race, Land of the Lost, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Expect cast members from these films to appear, including WIll Ferrell, Jason Statham, and Brendan Fraser.

Warner Bros. Pictures
is expected to present Watchmen with the director, Zack Snyder and the cast. They're also expected to premeire footage from RocknRolla, Ninja Assasin, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Terminator Salvation: The Future BEgins, and Friday the 13th. I would expect at least a trailer for F13.

The Weinstein Company will have a panel for Kevin Smith's latest comedy Zack and Miri Make a Porno with Smith and cast expected. There is also talk of a full Fanboys screening.

The San Diego Comic-Con will be from July 24 - 27 this year with a special preview night on July 23.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to attend every day this year. We will bring you as much info as possible for the times we're there. With luck we'll nab some good stuff to give away or feature on the page.

Comic Con Day One

Day One! Started with us getting shut out of the paramount panel. The wonderful people working this years con decided to let some giant autograph session out and where did they go? Directly into the Paramount line. So unfortunately, the news of Karen Allen officially returning to the Indiana Jones universe has broken elsewhere. As well as the news of Zachary Quinto signing on to play Spock in the JJ Abrams Star Trek prequel. It also looks as though Leonard Nimoy will be appearing in the film as well.

In Comic Book news, Michael Turner (Fathom, Shrugged, Soul Fire) dropped us some interesting tidbits regarding his future with Marvel Comics, including a 6 issue miniseries that he is doing both the cover AND the interiors for. That should be out next summer. He also hinted at an X-Men related project next year.

Tomorrow brings the WB presentations as well as the new mystery block vacated by 20th Century Fox. I'm not quite sure what is planned for that two hours but we'll see.

Pictures will be coming soon. We're still having technical issues with the cameras.

Also, hello to all the visitors coming from Dark Horizons!

More tomorrow!

Comic Con UPDATE: DOOOOOOOM?

The Los Angeles Times has confirmed rumors that 20th Century Fox has pulled some of it MAJOR studio projects from this year's panel.

"The studio previously announced plans to promote its movies with a star- and filmmaker-studded panel next Friday in the main hall. The movies included "Jumper," directed by Doug Liman and starring Hayden Christensen; directors Colin and Greg Strause's update to the popular "Aliens vs. Predator" franchise; the Vin Diesel action film "Babylon A.D."; and "Hitman," starring Timothy Olyphant, based on the wildly popular video game of the same name.... the studio had planned to tease Fox-Walden's "The Dark Is Rising," and "City of Ember." Fox-Walden did not return calls seeking comment."

Why did they pull their line up? The studio's VP of National Publicity Sean Dudas had to say the following:

"The material wasn't ready and we only want to go out when we can put our best foot forward... Obviously, we will have to find other ways to get materials out to the fans and hopefully those will be ready soon..."

David Glanzer, Comic-Con's director of marketing and public relations, said the cancellation was surprising.

"Every major studio usually has a presence at Comic-Con so for Fox to pull out a week before is very unusual," Glanzer said, adding that organizers were still trying to figure out how to fill the studio's time slot. "We're still going back and forth. We have in excess of 350 hours of programming so scheduling is like a giant Rubik's Cube. Otherwise, this year every major studio has committed to show up and participate."

Later that day, the studio was reconsidering its position, says The LA Times.

"Executives said they were still hoping to have some kind of "surprise" for fans at the convention."
