The CW's best show (since the demise of Veronica Mars and Aliens in America that is) continues to be Gossip Girl. It's more entertaining than it has any right to be. It's trashy, and depraved, and utterly addictive.

Season Two continues that tradition extremely well.

It's Senior Year for the Gossip Girl gang, at least for most of them, and almost time for college. Some find out their dream school is out of reach while others realize it's just where they belong. It's a season of growth and tragedy of love and loss. Not to mention the sex and the scandals.

This Second Season of Gossip Girl has it all and it is a helluva lot of fun to watch.

Part of the charm of this show is its perfect cast. Each actor embodies their characters wholeheartedly and it gives us equal opportunity to love and hate every one of them. Season Two is full of chances for all of that. The season has a lot of twists and shocks and even some comedy thrown in (intentionally or otherwise).

If I had to make any complaints, it'd be that there wasn't enough of Eric Van der Woodsen, played by Connor Paolo. I feel like they don't know what to do with this character. Whether they're just afraid to fully explore his character or they just don't want to, I don't know. He just feels wasted to me. There is plenty of opportunity for smart and inspiring story lines revolving around this character and they're just not doing it.

Besides that, most of the other characters get ample screen time. The stories stay strong this season and never feel tired or cliched. In fact, I find myself consistently surprised at just how smart the writing is. A nighttime teenage soap shouldn't be as good as Gossip Girl is.

The Season Two set features all twenty-five episodes along with a plethora of features including featurettes, deleted scenes, a gag reel, and more. It's a nice collection for fans of the show to check out. I don't know how interested a casual watcher would be but it's definitely packed for loyal viewers.

All in all, Gossip Girl: The Complete Second Season continues to be an entertaining and deplorable show to watch packed full of sex, drama, great characters, and underage drinking.

I can't get enough of it.

The first shows coming back to The CW are...

The CW is set to announce early renewals for six of its shows. Fans of the following should be pleased:

“Smallville,” “Supernatural,” “90210,” “Gossip Girl,” “One Tree Hill” and “America’s Next Top Model.”

In addition to these, they have greenlit a pilot for Melrose Place.

Still waiting for them to correct that mistake of canceling Veronica Mars...

XOXO like Gossip Girl gets a prequel okay?

The rumors are true. There will be a spin-off of the wildly popular (yes I watch it. I don't like that I do but I do) CW teen drama Gossip Girl.

The show will lash back to the time of leg warmers and good cartoons. I'm talking about the 80's folks.

The CW has ordered a pilot for the spin-off to focus on the early life of Serena's mother Lily Van der Woodsen, or Lily Rhodes as she'll be known.

I do believe this means we'll get to see the epic romance of Rufus and Lily from the beginning?

The show will be produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage and they say:

“There has been a lot of speculation about a ‘Gossip Girl’ spinoff, but we were adamant that it had to be the right time and the right idea. Also, the new show couldn’t diminish ‘Gossip Girl’ in any way. We didn’t want to upset the chemistry of our cast, all of whom are crucial to the show. Nor did we want to dilute New York City as a character. We are inspired by the opportunity to tell overlapping stories and introduce characters that will appear in the past and the present, and hopefully enrich both shows. We love exploring fashion, pop culture, music and a heightened world that’s just a little more fun than the one we actually live in. L.A. in the ’80s totally fits the bill.”

We'll see if this goes the way of That 80's Show.

Well the fall season is in full swing now and I've made my picks of the best of the season so far.

Best New Comedy: Aliens in America

Best New Drama: Gossip Girl

Best Returning Drama: Brothers & Sisters

Best Night on TV: ABC Sunday Night with Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Desperate Housewives, and Brothers & Sisters.

Honorable Mentions: Curb Your Enthusiasm, Boston Legal, Heroes, Chuck, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy

Biggest Disappointments: Reaper (I don't understand the critical acclaim of this show), Moonlight (watch Angel. 100X better)

What I Still Need To Watch: Pushing Daisies and Private Practice

Imagine my shock when the two new shows I'm enjoying the most are on a network I hate. Curse you for getting on my good side CW! I guess I will forgive you for canceling Veronica Mars.

The Fall Season Begins

Last night marked the start of two anticipated shows. Kid Nation, which my DVR failed to record and Gossip Girl on The CW.



Unfortunately, I was not able to see Kid Nation (hopefully it will replay) I did however watch Gossip Girl.





Now I know I had vowed not to watch anything the CW aired after the cancellation of Veronica Mars, but, Kristen Bell (Veronica herself) is doing the narration for this show so I can justify it! Before you groan, the narrator is the Gossip Girl and we never learn who her identity is. Everyone seems to read her and everyone seems to be a source. The voice over does not get tiresome and is really a driving force for the show. Although, if it wasn't Kristen Bells voice, which I am so familiar with as a voice over maybe it would have been a little annoying? It's really fun to watch the gossip spread through the show. When one of the characters shows up at a party everyone's cell phones start going off as the news spreads. Pretty funny.


Anyway, Gossip Girl happens to be a pretty great show. It well acted and populated with mainly fresh faces, save for 2 of the adults in the show. One being Melrose Place Alum Kelly Rutherford the other Matthew Settle recently seen on ABCs Brothers and Sisters. Neither appear old enough to have teenage kids but whatever.

The show has it's secrets. Why don't know why Serena (pictured above) left town for boarding school, although they give possible reasons. We learn why she came back however, but no reasons about why that catalyst happened, which I hope we do.

I'm being vague on purpose as I don't want to spoil anything for anyone.

We see the crumbling of a life long friendship, the strain of a someone loving someone he is forbidden to have and someone else loving someone he thinks he can never have. Most painfully, is the desire of an outsider trying to get in and the price she pays.

It's all about the circle of high society both inside and outside.

The more I think about it the more I like it. It was a smart, funny, and entertaining show. Hopefully, they can keep the stories fresh. The cast of relative newcomers are all great. Everyone seems perfectly casted and I am excited to see them grow into their characters as the show progresses.

If you're a fan of prime time soaps like The OC or Melrose Place, you'll most certainly like this show. Even if you aren't a fan of those types of shows, give it a look anyway. The premiere replays this Sunday at 8pm on The CW. .
