First Look: 'Touch' staring Kiefer Sutherland

If you remember, about 2 weeks ago we mentioned a project from Heroes creator Tim Kring and staring Kiefer Sutherland. Well today FOX released a trailer from the series, which looks very interesting to say the least.

The show is set to air in 24's old slot, Mondays at 9PM (Also Heroes NBC slot) beginning in the spring.

Heroes Loses Its Savior!

The man behind the greatest episodes of Heroes, and the one who is responsible for rescuing last season from the depths of horribleness, Bryan Fuller, has again left the show.

This undoubtedly means the show will go back to being awful.

This is really terrible news for fans of the show. Personally, I was ready to give up entirely because last season was so bad but when Fuller returned, the show seemed to instantly get great again.

Sad. So much potential in a show like this.

I'll give it a few episodes before I completely give up on it.

TV News: NBC Unveils New Shows!

NBC has announced it's fall schedule today and in doing so unveiled a slate of new shows to begin airing in the fall. We'll get to those in a moment but first I wanted to give people the relief of knowing which shows they can expect to return!

NBC is bringing back Heroes, Southland, and Parks and Recreation which will be joining the previously renewed The Office, 30 Rock, Law & Order: SVU, Friday Night Lights, Celebrity Apprentice, and The Biggest Loser.

Sadly, there is no news yet for fans of Chuck (that announcement has been delayed until May 19), Law & Order, Medium, Life, or My Name is Earl. I have heard that Earl and Life have been canceled but apparently no official statement has been made.

NBC of course announced the new series coming in the fall and they include four dramas and two comedies and the return of Weekend Update Thursdays!

Click the Rawr! for the titles and descriptions!

New Dramas:

Parenthood:
A contemporary re-imagining of the blockbuster film, depicting the Braverman family -- four grown siblings sharing the headaches, heartaches and joy of being parents. Starring Peter Krause, Maura Tierney, Craig T. Nelson, Dax Shepard, Bonnie Bedelia, Monica Potter, Erika Christensen and Sarah Ramos. Ron Howard and Brian Grazer executive produce.

Joining writer/executive producers Liz Heldens (NBC’s "Friday Night Lights") and Gretchen Berg & Aaron Harberts ("Pushing Daisies," "Pepper Dennis") are executive producers Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun. Day One:
Executive producer/writer Jesse Alexander ("Heroes," "Lost," "Alias,") "Day One" tells the story of life on earth following a global catastrophe that has devastated the world's infrastructures. Beginning with the immediate aftermath of the cataclysmic event, "Day One" follows an eclectic band of survivors -- played by Adam Campbell ("Date Movie"), Catherine Dent ("The Shield"), Julie Gonzalo ("Eli Stone"), David Lyons ("ER"), Derek Mio ("Greek"), Carly Pope ("24"), Thekla Reuten ("Sleeper Cell") and Addison Timlin ("Cashmere Mafia")

Unfortunately, no video is available yet for Day One.

New Comedies:

100 Questions:

When she joins a popular online dating site, she gets a little help from her dating counselor Ravi (Amir Talai, "The Ex List") – who requires her to take a 100-question compatibility test. The questions aren’t easy for Charlotte to answer, and each one requires her to recount a poignant and humorous time in her life with friends Leslie (Elizabeth Ho, "Women’s Murder Club"), Jill (Joy Suprano, NBC’s "Law & Order"), Mike (Christopher Moynihan "For Your Consideration") and Wayne (David Walton "Quarterlife"). James Burrows ("Will & Grace," "Friends,") directs, and Christopher Moynihan ("For Your Consideration") executive produces.

Heroes Boots Two Writers

Heroes continues it's worst season yet tonight but will do so with two less writers. Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander have apparently both been given their walking papers. Both have had a pretty major role behind the scenes of the show since it began.

The show can't get much worse to be honest. Considering it has gone from one of the greatest shows on television to one of it's worst rather rapidly leads me to believe we may not see a season four.

I do hope I am wrong though...I'll stick with it as long as I can but the bad moments this season are far outweighing the good ones.

Side note: Did anyone know that John Cho (Harold of Harold and Kumar) was in American Pie?

steeeeeeeriiiikke!

The Writer's Strike is on and already claiming some casualties. First effected? Late night shows included Jay Leno, David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report.
Latest news? Tina Fey, Julia Louis Dreyfus, as well as the cast of The Office, have walked off set and joined the picketers.
There is also a rumor that Tim Kring, creator of Heroes, has quit his own show in the face of demands from NBC execs to wrap up current story lines.
Something tells me that a lot of shows are going to take major hits from this.
Lets hope this gets resolved soon. Give the writers what they want. Without them you have no shows at all. You should be burying them in money.

Want Heroes on HD Free?

Quick notice to anyone waiting for reason to jump on the HD bandwagon. If you head into your local Best Buy you can pick up the XBox 360 HD DVD player for $179.99 and get a free copy of Heroes Season 1 in HD. The set is normally $99.99 but if you buy the player you get it free.

I took advantage of this offer myself even tough I don't have an HDTV yet.

The player also comes with King Kong and the normal offer for 5 more HD DVDs for free by mail. So with that, I'm expecting Babel, The Thing, Full Metal Jacket, The Frighteners, and Troy. I also got Transformers in HD. Not a bad haul for $200 bucks I say.

As far as I know this is in-store only so might wanna get a move on if you're interested.

Edit: This deal is also available at buy.com and you can save $10 bucks by signing up for google checkout.

Fall TV Roundup

Well the fall season is in full swing now and I've made my picks of the best of the season so far.

Best New Comedy: Aliens in America
Best New Drama: Gossip Girl

Best Returning Comedy: 30 Rock
Best Returning Drama: Brothers & Sisters

Best Night on TV: ABC Sunday Night with Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Desperate Housewives, and Brothers & Sisters.

Honorable Mentions: Curb Your Enthusiasm, Boston Legal, Heroes, Chuck, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy

Biggest Disappointments: Reaper (I don't understand the critical acclaim of this show), Moonlight (watch Angel. 100X better)

Most Missed: Veronica Mars. /tear

What I Still Need To Watch: Pushing Daisies and Private Practice

Imagine my shock when the two new shows I'm enjoying the most are on a network I hate. Curse you for getting on my good side CW! I guess I will forgive you for canceling Veronica Mars.

The Return of Heroes

Well, they did it. Any doubt that this show would suffer upon it's return was instantly banished. Heroes returned last night with a mystery filled extravaganza and I couldn't have been happier. Season 2 is shaping up to be better than season 1.

Also, NBC premiered two other shows last night. Chuck and Quantum le..er..Journeyman. I watched chuck and was hooked. It's smart and funny with some immensely likable characters. Well, maybe just one likable character and that's Chuck himself played hilariously by Zachary Levi. Adam Baldwin looks to be a great antagonist to Chuck. I can't wait to see how this show plays out.

I did not watch Journeyman yet. I did however see the first 5 or so minutes and it seemed decent. I have the rest on the Tivo.

Tonight brings us the series premiere of Reaper, which was directed by Kevin Smith, and the season premiere of Boston Legal.

For now I'll leave you with a mugshot of former Klingon offspring and Family Ties star Brian Bonsall.

I guess he won't be appearing in Blank Check 2.

Life After Veronica...

The reports are in and according to TVGuide and Variety former Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell has joined the cast of "Heroes" in a "key multi-episode arc" for the second season. We at PCB know just how key that is, but we're anti spoilers so you'll have to hunt that info down yourselves.

We may have had to say goodbye to Veronica but thankfully, Kristen will be sticking around.

Heroes Volume 2 is set to begin September 24 on NBC.

Chekov! It's You!

You may remember him from Hearts in Atalantis, maybe from Alpha Dog, but you will see him soon enough starring opposite Robert Downey jr. in Charlie Bartlett.

But I am not here to discuss that movie. I am here because the latest news from The Hollywood Reporter is that Anton Yelchin will be playing Pavel Chekov in J.J. Abrams untitled Star Trek film.

And everyone is making a big deal out of it. Why? Because he is actually Russian!

O.o

Anyway, Mr. Abrams is expected to sign on bigger names to be filling in the spot of the infamous James T. Kirk, and the unknown villain.

Zachary Quinto from Heroes and Leonard Nimoy are both confirmed to be playing Mr. Spock.

Set your calendar for a Christman Day release in 2008.
