Where My Party People At?! An All-Star House Party Music Mix!

Hey Pop Culture Beasties! Who wants to party?! I want to party! You want to party! We want to party! Let's party!

To party, we need a great house party music mix!

I tend towards EDM events these days for my music enjoyment, but I threw a certified bash for the Fourth of July in 2008. Well, by my standards. I invited 20 people, and 50 showed up. There were fireworks from a cool vantage point (accompanied by the Kiss version of the national anthem), many foods and drinks, unexpected actors passed out on the floor, and grown men throwing Pop Its in each others' faces! I even had a freaking pinata.

But what's all of that without a great soundtrack? Would any awesome even happen without one? When I go to a party, I love party music. You know, those songs pretty much everyone loves and can sing along to, or get a good groove going on. So when it came time to decide on music for my party, I thought about all the songs I love to sing along and dance to when I'm in a party mood.

People loved the mix! Walking through the room, I'd be hearing, "omg! I love this song!" People were dancing on the patio. But this was 2008! Would my mix stand the test of time? I recently unearthed those party mix CDs, and was really excited to find they're still mostly great. So, I want to share my list with you as inspiration for your own party mixes!

Just in time for the holidays comes Michael, the first (I'll venture to say not the last) posthumous release from King of Pop Michael Jackson.  The album is scheduled to be released on December 14th.

Frackin' Awesome Music Friday 8/27/10

I know, I'm late again.  I was too wrapped up in all this awesome music :P

I did things a little differently this week as I took clips of different songs and spliced them into one video, don't worry it's not long.  Please leave feedback of what you think of this idea and if you think I should do it this way every week.

Just a quick note, I was turned on to the band Pomplamoose by Ben Folds.  He did a collaboration with them on his single, "Things You Think" with lyrics by Nick Hornby.  This single will not be on his new album.  Check it out on ITunes

Movie Poster: Michael Jackson's This Is It

Here is the poster from the upcoming film that sparked a bidding war after Jackson's death.

I really don't know what this movie will comprise of outside of rehearsal footage but I am intrigued to see it. It is a great poster as well.

Michael Jackson's This Is It arrives in theaters on October 28.

Michael Jackson: "This is it."

Michael Jackson announced today "This is it." As he termed it, this is his final curtain call, his last performace will be in London, with performances of songs that fans would want. "See you in July." he said.

For those of you who were not able to witness this event, Michael began to walk off the stage, turned around to his fans, and gave a signature stare and arm raise to the crowd. And then he departed.

He boasted tremendous confidence, and commanded a full crowd of people in this venue. I have to say, I am excited.

No news of a new album, but rumors have been circulating. Time will tell.
