RIP Marcia Wallace

Legendary comedic actress Marcia Wallace has died at the age of 70 due to complications from Breast Cancer.  Wallace is probably best known today as the voice of Bart Simpson's teacher Edna Krabappel on The Simpsons.  She was also known for her scene-stealing role as Carol the receptionist on The Bob Newhart Show.

I had the pleasure of seeing her appear on a live version of Match Game here in Los Angeles a few  years back.  Such a sweet and funny woman.

She will be missed.  Our thoughts and condolences go out to her friends and family.

The Simpson's Fate Has Been Decided...

...and it's good news if you're a fan of the show!

Fox has announced that The Simpsons has been renewed for seasons 24 AND 25.  This comes after intense, and very public, negotiations between the cast who have taken a reported 40% pay cut to keep the show on the air.

Fox continues to deny any actor a portion of the back end profits of the show, which are allegedly pretty hefty.  This also comes fresh off the new that the show was all but canceled after the internet exploded with the rumor that the show was worth over 750 million dollars if it was sacked.

Fans of the show can be glad they're getting at least 2 more seasons as it stands right now.  No idea if 25 will be the last season or not (I suspect not).

New episodes return October 30 with the newest Tree House of Horror episode.

Sunday Ratings

ABC's darling Desperate Housewives dropped a whopping 37% in ratings for this seasons premiere over last season's. Brothers and Sisters dropped 35%. Quite a drop for two seemingly popular shows.

On the other end of the spectrum Fox's new animated series The Cleveland Show beat the season premiere of The Simpsons by more than a million viewers. Seth MacFarlane is certainly earning that huge paycheck because both Family Guy and American Dad increased over last years premieres by 16% and 13% respectively.

New Credit Sequence for The Simpsons

Last night marked the first time The Simpsons were aired in HD as well as the first time the show has changed its title sequence in the 19 years its been on the air. The new credits features what looks to be nearly every character on the show while maintaining most of the original credit sequence.

HUGE night of Premieres!

It's Sunday night and there are a bunch of shows returning tonight!

On Showtime we have the simply cannot miss premieres of Dexter and Californication.

Over at Fox animation domination is back with all new episodes of King of the Hill, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad.

ABC has the premieres for America's Funniest Home Videos, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Desperate Housewives, and Brothers and Sisters.

The CW brings us In Harms Way, Surviving Suburbia, Valentine, and Easy Money.

NBC has well...football. Skip that.

Finally, CBS delivers 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race, Cold Case, and The Unit.

Looks like Tivo is going to be working overtime tonight.

My suggestion? Record Desperate Housewives, and Brothers and Sisters and watch Dexter and Californication live.

Stick a fork in it.

As of September 3, Universal Studios will be shutting down the still popular vomit inducing time travel simulator: Back to the Future: The Ride.

It is being replaced next year by some kind of ride featuring...The Simpsons.

Now, I'm not exactly a fan of this ride. It's dated and I always end up feeling a bit queasy when I get off it but to replace it with The Simpsons? I think that's wrong. It's a legendary ride that nearly everyone knows and has fond memories of. Are we ready to just toss it aside for The Simpsons of all things? Why not refurbish the ride? Upgrade the technology and give it a chance to recapture its glory. Certainly something could be done besides removing it completely? I guess what's done is done. I'll miss seeing that Delorian parked outside the ride. I'll miss getting that urge to rush home and watch one of the movies whenever I get off the ride.

Recently, Co-Creator and writer Bob Gayle and Doc Brown himself Christopher Lloyd were on hand at Universal Studios to bid the ride a fond farewell.

There is less than a month until the ride closes so if you are able to head to Universal Studios Hollywood do so and take one last trip Back to the Future.
