2014 Emmy Nominations!

It's that time again! The nominations for the 66th Emmys Awards are in!

While a lot of the categories are status quo for the most part (Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey), there are some surprises peaking in there.

True Detective scores nominations for series (for drama series not miniseries) and both of its stars gained lead actor nominations. Netflix picked up numerous nominations for Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, and even a lead actor in a comedy nomination for Ricky Gervais for his show Derek.

Let's also take a moment to celebrate the awesomeness of Kate McKinnon getting nominated for SNL.

This might be a tough year for Emmy voters as there have been some spectacular shows and performances this year.

Is Jason Vorhees Coming To TV?

It appears that the Friday the 13th franchise is getting more than just a a new movie.  It sounds like we'll soon be seeing a Bates Motel-esque hour long drama.

According to Deadline, the show will be reimagining Jason in a variety of different time periods.  I have no idea what this means.  I can't imagine they'll be having a time traveling Jason Vorhees bouncing around the history of Crystal Lake.  I'd be more inclined to think it'll focus on the Vorhees family as a whole.  Which sounds much more like a Texas Chainsaw Massacre scenario.

Deadline describes the show as follows, "the series is contemporary, focusing on the eclectic characters of Crystal Lake who are forced to confront the return of the killer, as new secrets about his wacky family are revealed."

Series creator Sean Cunningham will be involved as well.

I just don't know how to feel about this.  I'm weary for sure.  Really weary.  They won't be able to top the original Friday the 13th: The Series anyway.

Is that The Flash? Why yes it is!

Here it is, our first look at Grant Gustin's head inside the Flash costume.  After his take on Barry Allen on Arrow, I am super stoked to see him in all his Flash glory when this series arrives.  

Hopefully, we'll get to see the full suit soon enough but for now this little glimpse will have to do.

I never thought i'd be excited for a CW show but there it is.

Even MORE Amazing DVD News!

StarVista, the company behind the excellent recent releases of Mama's Family, China Beach, and The Carol Burnett Show, has announced they're releasing The Wonder Years on DVD this year.

The set will be a deluxe complete series set and they are "painstakingly" working to secure the rights to every single song that was featured on the show so it can be released in its full uncut original broadcast condition.

This is amazing news for fans of the show who have been waiting for a release to finally happen.

I can't think of a company better to handle it than StarVista.

Season Five of Community brings back DAN HARMON!

That says it all right there.  In great, and maybe unprecedented, news Dan Harmon is returning to Community. An ousted showrunner being asked back to his show?  Has that ever happened before?

While season four of NBC's best remaining comedy (pipe down Parks & Rec fans) wasn't exactly a disaster, it was certainly missing the guiding force of its creator.

Now he is back and Community can return to its full glory.   Here's also hoping for more Jim Rash penned episodes as well!

Community returns at some point this fall on NBC!

TV News: Futurama Returns!

Good news for fans of the sci-fi animated series Futurama.

Futurama will be returning with 26 episodes to Comedy Central starting this mid 2010. The episodes will span over two seasons.

TV Casting News

We have two big casting tidbits to announce that have to do with two of my favorite shows.




The first I can't say I'm too excited about but who am I to judge? He could prove me wrong.

I'm referring of course to the recent news that Scooby Doo star Freddie Prinze Jr. is joining the cast of 24 as Davis Cole, a Marine who is in charge of CTU Field Ops.

Freddie Prinze Jr. joins other new cast members Anil Kapoor, Chris Diamantopoulos, John Boyd, Jennifer Westfeldt, and Nazneen Contractor.

Sadly, there is no sign of Janeane Garofalo.

The fantastic seventh season of 24 is available on DVD and Blu-ray now.





Our next bit of news, I can honestly say I am extremely excited about.


John Lithgow has joined the cast of Showtime's brilliant serial killer drama Dexter and will appear in all 12 episodes of Season 4, which debuts on September 27. Lithgow will play Walter Simmons, a man who well...I don't want to spoil it but it's Dexter. What else could he be?

You can catch up with Season Three of Dexter when it hits DVD on August 18.
