What could this tweet mean?  Apocalypse as the villain in the next X-Men film?  An Age of Apocalypse movie??  Maybe he's just having some holiday fun and screwing with us?

An Age of Apocalypse movie would be amazing and the idea of just having Apocalypse in a film has so many exciting possibilities, not the least of which is an appearance of Archangel!

I guess we'll need to wait to find out more info. 2016 is so far...

Bryan Singer on X-Men: Days of Future Past

Bryan Singer talked at great length with Empire Magazine about the new X-Men movie and how he is planning on bringing all of the X Franchises together.

"It's epic. I don't think people realize how big this movie's going to be. We get to bring both casts together. We've cracked it in a way that it makes sense. I had a two-hour conversation with James Cameron about time travel, string theory, multiverses and all that. You have to create your rules and stick wtih them. That's why Terminator and Back To The Future work so well. And there are certain mechanisms in X-Men, certain powers, perceptions and characters, that make this possible."

He also talks about finding a balance between staying faithful to the source material and creating a film of this magnitude.

"It has a lot of aspects of the comic. The actual comic of Days Of Future Past had a whole ton of stuff going on, so it’s like any of these things; you have to distill it. But I think the fans will be pleased that some of the most exciting parts of Days Of Future Past are going to be connected to this movie."

Bryan Singer also answers some of the fans main concern about which films are canon, and which he will dismiss. Spoiler Alert, he is taking into account the events of X-Men The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Both films were deeply criticized by fans and movie critics alike.

"I’m taking into account every movie – I’m not just grabbing my first two movies and First Class and smashing them together. I’m taking into account the entire universe as it’s been laid out so far on the screen, and really respecting it and trying to work with that. People took things in various directions, so there’s some clean-up. But ultimately I’m not just ignoring them either."

As a die hard fan boy of the Phoenix Saga, I hope that the cleanup he speaks of is in relationship to Ratner's interpretation of it in The Last Stand. And that we can see a true representation of it on the big screen again. After all, they rebooted Spiderman in 5 years!

Anyway, according to the director, if you want to get the latest info, stick to twitter, that's how he has been communicating about the movie and doesn't intend to stop using it. But of course we hope you follow us here or on Facebook to get the latest!

OMG THE NEW X-MEN MOVIE TITLE IS.....

DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

It's been rumored but now it looks to be official.  The upcoming X-Men first class sequel is going to be subtitled Days of Future Past.    No word yet how much of the iconic mutant storyline will make it to film but still x-fans are probably starting to get excited right about now.

Production is set to begin n January for a Summer 2014 release.  Pending any 2012 doomsdays, we shouldn't have more than a few months to wait for more details.

X-Men: First Class Review

People have a tendency to cringe at the word sequel, but those people have never heard of The Empire Strikes Back, Aliens, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, or The Dark Knight (just to name a few). It gets a bit excessive when it's the fourth (fifth if you count Wolverine) movie in a series such as The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Resident Evil: Afterlife, or Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

However, X-Men: First Class is none of these! Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, Stardust) has done an amazing job of directing by far the best movie of the X-Men Franchise. I'll admit that I was skeptical at first of how I felt with the "First Class" not actually being the same as they were in the comics, but I quickly got over it. A number of "B list" X-Men debut in this movie, giving us a unique take on the story we thought we all knew. Rounding out the team lead by Professor X and Magneto are Banshee, Beast, Mystique, and Havok.

Without giving too much away, the main plot is that Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) is trying to ignite a nuclear war in the midst of the Cuban Missile Crisis. The time period is extremely convincing with the sets and the costumes. January Jones, who is no stranger to looking sexy in 60s fashion is great as Emma Frost. Michael Fassbender makes a really convincing and cool Magneto, at times he looks and acts like Sean Connery's James Bond (which could make a great case for his recent desire to take over Bond after Daniel Craig). James McAvoy really brings a young and hopeful side to Professor X.

All in all this was an amazing film telling the origin of the X-Men with new characters and some old familiar faces. My only concern is that in a summer full of superhero movies, this one might get overshadowed, which is ashame because it is one of the best.

Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell Join Scream 4 Cast

According to USA Today, Anna Paquin (True Blood, X-Men) and Kristen Bell (Fanboys, Veronica Mars) signed on as part of the cast of Scream 4.  Most likely the two will have cameos, possibly even get slashed.
Courtney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell will be back reprising their roles.

Currently being filmed in and around Ann Arbor, MI, the newest installment of Scream is due in theaters April 15, 2011.

DVD Review: X-Men Volumes One and Two

Marvel DVD Comic Collection: X-Men Volume 1 and Volume 2

One of the most eagerly sought after and anticipated animation releases is finally here as the 90's X-Men animated series finally arrives on DVD.

Personally, this show ranks among my top cartoons ever. Being a major fan of the X-Men already, this show just further fueled my imagination and my love of these characters. To this day, the X-Men have never been portrayed better either animated or live action.

This series of cartoons was a major accomplishment in terms of storytelling in animation. Nearly every episode had a deep story, some arcs lasting multiple episodes. It was pretty much unheard of in American animation, at least in my experience.

It's a shame that cartoons like this aren't made anymore. It seems nowadays cartoons are made not so much for entertainment but for hypnosis. Gone are the scooby doos, the looney tunes, replaced instead with flashy seizure inducing anime. Nowadays, the best animation isn't even made for kids.



That's why it is so important for shows like X-Men to release on DVD. It gives parents the chance to share the cartoons they loved with their own kids. If the day ever comes where I have kids you can be sure they'll be checking out X-Men and Tiny Toons and Animaniacs. If they don't like them, then they're welcome to Pokemon if it floats their boat.

Back to the reason we're here. This DVD release. I was always watching for a release like this and was extremely tempted to get my hands on any of the many bootleg collections out there. I never did though and I'm glad for it.



The first two volumes released feature a total of 33 episodes presented in chronological order. 16 episodes on Volume One and 17 on Volume Two. The episodes are as great as I remember. Sure they're a little dated but the stories are just as strong, the voices just as perfect. I said it before, this truly is the best adaptation of the X-Men that has been made outside of Comics.

Both the sets are pretty much devoid of special features which is a shame. I would have enjoyed some featurettes on the voice casts and the comics that the episodes were adapted from but beggars can't be choosers!



There are some great stories present on these two volumes (which cover seasons 1, 2, and part of 3) including Days of Future Past, and The Phoenix Saga. Don't be fooled by the cover art though, the Dark Phoenix Saga is not on this set.

All and all, both volumes are great collections of the show. I am already looking forward to the next volumes. It's great to revisit a show I loved so much growing up.

I would really suggest picking these sets up for the kids, for your friends, and for anyone who is a fan of these fantastic characters.

Wolverine movie possible title and release date!

Variety is reporting a May 1, 2009 release date for the Wolverine movie spin-off. They are also reporting the title will be X-Men Origins: Wolverine. They say the movie will feature many mutants from the previous X-Men films as well as new ones.

Liev Schreiber is reportedly in talks to play a younger William Stryker, played by Brian Cox in X2. The film is expected to include Wolverine's past including Weapon X and his relationship with Victor Creed AKA Sabertooth. The movie will be shooting in Austrailia, New Zeland, and New Orleans. This might mean a certain card throwing mutant might make an appearance.

Gavin Hood will direct from a script by David Benioff.

The USPS has put their second line of super hero postage stamps for sale, this time featuring Marvel Universe characters.

If you still live in the archaic world of snail mail, or just a die hard collector, these are definitely worth the trouble of waiting in those long lines at the post office.

Variety is reporting that 20th Century FOX has picked a director for its upcoming X-Men spinoff "Wolverine." The lucky winner goes to Gavin Hood.

"Hood is the South African director whose 2005 film "Tsotsi" won the foreign film Oscar. He was among several hot young directors vying for "Wolverine" and sources said Fox brass was swayed after viewing his latest film, "Rendition," the politically charged New Line drama starring Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Meryl Streep and Peter Sarsgaard.

Using several resources that include the Marvel Comics lore, along with the more recent Weapon X graphic novels by Frank Miller, "Wolverine" mixes action with an origin story about how Logan emerged from a barbaric experiment as an indestructible mutant with retractable razor-sharp claws.

"I have long been a fan of Gavin's work and know he will make a masterful film with the character intensity and action beats the fans expect," said Jackman. "
